La Casalinga - been YEARS since I've been but it was amazing food and very reasonable. We could go and get apps, a meal and wine for under $50 with a tip included. Very authentic food.

Per Bacco is very very very nice - and priced to match. We had a $100 gift cert and still had to pay $40 out of pocket - and we did NOT have wine because I was preggers - that is a lot of money for dinner!

Il Gabbiano was good too, more expensive than Casalinga but cheaper than Bacco.

Way back when I worked at the restaurant supply store the owners and chefs had great reps at La Casalinga.

Oh, and you'll find most of the Italian Restaurants are on Erie.

Paigemikey has a new italian recommendation, you might pm her. Her dh is a chef and they always are trying new places out.

Nico all the way!

Such an intimate, cozy restaurant and Nick is an amazing chef - one of the best in the city! The service is also top notch.

He is a friend of mine and always spoils us when we go there BUT honestly, his service and food is super no matter who the client is.

I would highly recommend reservations - he is usually booked and it is hard to just walk in and get a table - actually most of Erie street is that way on the weekends.

p.s. if you go try the grilled calamari and/or shrimp - our fav!!!!

Nico's is great! La Casalinga is owned by a friend of dh's. The mom makes the bread & gnocci and its awesome. I went to Mezzo a few months ago and it was really good, but didn't have quite the atmosphere of the other two. I think we'll go to Nico's for our anniversary since that's where we had one of our first dates.
