MNSi is our server - wonderful people there - especially Audrey, she's the one in charge of our business account and she is extremely helpful, and the tech guys are never patronizing - sometimes in the past I would have various difficulties that would take literally hours to figure out and we would end up laughing and having a pretty good time working together to problem solve it. So much nicer than my very brief experience somewhere else. They take care of my webhosting and I pay one fee about once a year for the domain name upkeep (I can't tell you how much, I want to say under $100, but Greg's store picks up that bill, so I don't notice)
I use my apple software iWeb to design and upload and maintain the site - I'm not even pretending to know what I'm doing most of the time - a lot of it has been trial and error when there is a glitch in the hardware department, but I do know how to use software.
Before I had my mac, I used a PC software from Coffeecup - it was very user friendly and had the download interface, which is essential, by the way - that's what organizes your files and sends them to the server and allows you to make your own changes. It wasn't very expensive ($30 maybe 6 years ago) and I'm sure there are newer and better programs out there you can use for yourself.
